Bologna’s Simone Verdi insists he has no regrets over turning down a transfer to Napoli in January.

The Partenopei agreed a deal to sign the forward during the last transfer window, but the 25-year-old opted not to move to the San Paolo.

Speaking after his side were beaten 3-1 at Juventus last night, Verdi was asked whether he would do the same if he had the choice again.

“Of course. If not, I wouldn’t have chosen to stay at Bologna,” the Italy international, who scored a penalty in Turin yesterday evening, commented.

“It was the right decision, at the moment I won’t change my mind because I have the chance to keep improving.

“Now, we need to finish the season well and see what happens next.”

Verdi, who has nine goals so far this campaign, added that Bologna still have much to play for despite sitting comfortably in mid-table.

“I have a lot of teammates who are playing for a place at the World Cup.

“I have an important target to get to 10 goals for the season and we want to finish 11th and get more points than last season.”
