Giampiero Ventura believes Torino are “better than last season” after seeing off Atalanta to stay in the European race.

“We have more points than we did at this stage last season when we had Alessio Cerci and Ciro Immobile,” pointed out the tactician on Sky Sport Italia.

“We deserved to go even further than we did in the Europa League, so it is to be considered an important campaign.

“I am proud to have a squad like this, of what we are doing and what we can still do. This needs to be a starting point to show with hard work we can go far.

“We are five points behind Napoli, despite missing three penalties this season that could’ve got us more results. This shows the extraordinary work Torino are doing.”
