Atalanta's Edy Reja has owned up to his mistakes after the 2-1 defeat to Torino, and said a victory is now “imperative.”

La Dea are currently four points away from the relegation zone, and their hopes to extend that gap yesterday crashed against the Granata's two-goal advantage before half-time.

The home team's regrets were compounded by appeals for what could have been a penalty on Mauricio Pinilla, but their Coach prefers to let the matter rest.

“I won't talk about the penalty,” he said. “If we'd made it 2-1 before the break, our reaction might have been different.

“In the first half we were all at fault, myself included, because the team sat too deep, and this gave them an edge in possession.

“In the second half we had greater intensity. For all the bad things you may say about this game, I think that if we always play the way we did in the second half, we'll pull ourselves out of our negative moment.

“Of course against Sassuolo a victory becomes imperative, but we said that before the game against Torino too.

“It's been seven games since our last victory, so the sooner we turn that around, the sooner our mental block will be lifted. We'll be looking for a victory at all costs against Sassuolo.

“This team wasn't used to playing in the lower parts of the table. In the last few years they always did quite well, but when you're down there you've got to show something more, the way we did in the second half.

“If we can keep up that quality, we'll manage to lift our results.”
