Under-fire Bari boss Giampiero Ventura has offered to resign ahead of the Coppa Italia game with Milan. “If it helps, I'll step aside.”

The Galletti were one of the revelations of last season after their promotion to Serie A, but have struggled with an injury crisis and are bottom of the table.

“I am ready to hand in my resignation,” Ventura declared in this afternoon's Press conference.

“I had recently told the President I was prepared to hand in my notice. Last night at dinner I reiterated to President Vincenzo Matarrese that if a change of management would help Bari stay in Serie A, then I'll step aside.

“The President told me I would be staying even if I lost all the remaining matches this term.”

New signings Stefano Okaka and Gergely Rudolf are both unavailable for the Coppa clash with Milan due to a knee problem and flu virus respectively.

“There are 16 of us. The only wide men I have are Jaime Romero and Edgar Alvarez, if the latter recovers from a knock. In attack we're playing Vitalii Kutuzov and Nacho Castillo.

“Lately we have specialised in talking. Now I want us to specialise in playing football. We'll give it our best in Milan and see if we can still move the ball around like we used to.”
