Torino boss Giampiero Ventura says forward Alessio Cerci reacted angrily to being substituted against Livorno because he hadn’t scored.

The Coach took the 26-year-old off during his side’s 3-1 win over the Tuscan outfit, a game which brought an end to Toro’s run of four consecutive defeats.

“It’s definitely because he wanted to score,” Ventura told Sky Sport after the match. “But we are playing again in three days and with the score at 3-0 we wanted to preserve him, given that we are playing against a great team like Roma.

“For three weeks in a row, Ciro Immobile and Alessio Cerci hadn’t scored and it had become a national problem!

“I am very pleased with the team’s performance.

“The growth and development of the team is ensured by victories like these.”
