Giampiero Ventura was pleased with Torino’s 3-2 victory away to Cesena, even if “we could do without the scare.”

The Granata had been comfortably 2-0 up, but allowed Cesena to draw level with an entirely avoidable penalty and substitute Maxi Lopez snatched the winner late on.

“We could do without the scare and after going 2-0 up we wasted some incredible scoring opportunities,” Coach Ventura told Rai Sport.

“If we push forward, then we do get something, but a scrappy game is not in our DNA. The positive things are the reaction of the team and Maxi Lopez.

“We played three quarters of the game with tactical intelligence and completely wasted the other quarter. These three points were necessary for us and the result never seems to fully reflect our performance.

“This season we keep alternating good performances with ones below par, so have to improve our consistency.”
