“I was very happy with the first half performance, the way we approached the game and went into certain situations,” Zola told Rai Sport.

“I was obviously less pleased with the start of the second half, because if you clam up in defence then you’re going to get hurt in the end.

“I saw improvements and we created some good opportunities even before the equaliser. A draw in Udine has to be considered a good result.

“I am not looking at the table, but rather the performances and the way my team is growing. The results will come as a consequence of that work.

“I am starting to be happier with the way we move the ball and the quality of passing, but expect more in terms of character.”
