Inter midfielder Matias Vecino admits his winner against Lazio “is the most important I’ve ever scored”.

The Nerazzurri secured Champions League football on the final day of the Serie A season, with the Uruguayan heading in the winner in a 3-2 victory over Lazio.

“The team hadn’t been in the Champions League for many years, and from the start we knew that would be our objective,” Vecino explained to Ovacion.

“My goal was very important because there wasn’t long left and we were drawing, which wouldn’t have been enough.

“That goal is the most important I’ve ever scored, together with the one I scored for the Under-20s against Argentina.

“Inter have a lot of fans, not just in Milan but all over Italy. There were a lot of people waiting for us when we got back.

“The match was very intense, and for a team like Inter six years outside the Champions League is a long time.”
