Palermo forward Franco Vazquez admits he “would accept” Antonio Conte’s call to play for Italy.

The 25-year-old Argentine was asked about his availability when Coach Conte visited the Rosanero training ground last month.

“I haven’t spoken to Conte since then, but if he calls then I would accept, seeing as I am half-Italian and half-Argentinean,” said Vazquez in a Press conference.

“The first objective for Palermo is safety, then we can see further on if there are other objectives open to us. The Rosanero directors do hope we can reach the Europa League.”

Vazquez recently renewed his contract until 2019, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll stay.

“I want to end the season here and then we’ll see. I think I will certainly remain to the end of the campaign.

“Of course I am proud to be of interest to other clubs, but I am thinking of Palermo and the long contract that ties me to them. Then we’ll see.”
