Eduardo Vargas will come good at Napoli, promises his agent, once he has settled into life in Italy and adapted to the Serie A climate.

The 22-year-old Chilean attacking winger joined the Partenopei in January after impressing in his home country for Universidad de Chile.

Arriving to much fanfare in the media, the nine-times capped international has only made three brief substitute appearances since being hauled off at half-time in an unsuccessful mid-January debut against Cesena.

His representative has reassured that this is part of the natural bedding in process and that he will eventually live up the hype.

“Vargas is facing a particular process of acclimatisation,” Cristian Ogalde informed Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli.

“Edu has not been able to play as wished, nor has he been able to give what I know he can. He is beginning to adapt to a new team and is happy in Naples.

“Edu is understanding how to settle in a new city and is learning a language which is different to his.

“A club that boasts such great strikers as [Edinson] Cavani, [Ezequiel] Lavezzi, [Marek] Hamsik and [Goran] Pandev can undoubtedly by considered to be at the highest level, and Vargas will gradually try to find more space within it.”

Ogalde continued to press home the message that it is only a matter of time until the player’s potential is realised.

“He trains every day to earn minutes, but we’re talking about a player who arrived in Italy a little over a month ago, so it is normal that he needs time.

“Is Vargas like [Alexis] Sanchez? The players are different – similar physically, but different tactically.

“Vargas has a particular way of playing that in the Copa Sudamericana allowed him to become one of the top goal-scorers, among other things, still at only 22.

“Napoli is a club that is most suitable to Edu and he is very happy to have arrived and he will definitely get his opportunity.

“His position? He can play left or right and although his natural position is on the right, he has played many games as a left-sided striker.

“Next year he will replace Lavezzi? This is information I do not have.”
