While Joao Pedro hesitates over the Galatasaray proposal, Gennaro Gattuso and Valencia have reportedly entered the race for the Cagliari striker.

The Brazil-born Italy international is on sale because the Sardinians were relegated to Serie B and his contract is due to expire in June 2023.

The asking price is circa €10m, with Torino and Monza interested, but the favourites so far would seem to be Galatasaray.

Now Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà claims there has been a new approach from Valencia.

They have several reasons to be favoured over Galatasaray, including the presence of Italian coach Gattuso, the draw of LaLiga and the quality of life for his family in sun-drenched Valencia.

Cagliari are happy to wait and accept the highest bid, but ultimately the player’s decision could be the key, unaccustomed to change after eight years in Sardinia.

The 30-year-old scored 71 goals and provided 20 assists in 217 Serie A matches, a figure that stepped up considerably over the last three seasons to 47 goals in 110 games.
