“I want to thank the President [Aurelio De Laurentiis], he had been following me even before Sarri, and that’s a source of pride.

“Sarri coming in means I know already what will be asked, but I have to prove myself in training, because the boss doesn’t give anything to anyone.

“I’m fired-up, I can’t wait to wear this shirt.”

Valdifiori also gave an update on how Sarri is imparting his ideas to the Vesuviani squad.

“He’s starting to get his ideas about the game across. The team is behind him, and that’s important for him.

“It’s an aggressive style of football, with the first line of defence being pressure at up-front, trying to win back the ball and have an attempt at goal immediately.

“The style has to be understood, and he’s in charge of a group which is working to learn it. There are players here of great quality, if the Coach can give us organisation in the final third, there can be some great football.

“The drones? They allow the Coach to review things with us, and show us the mistakes we’re making and how not to make them.

“He’s always been that way, and if he wasn’t as manic then we wouldn’t have achieved safety with Empoli.”
