Destiny Udogie, one of the breakout stars in Serie A last season, commented on his career goals, the interest of Juventus and Udinese’s hopes ahead of the upcoming campaign.

The 19-year-old Italian left back shone last season in Udine, scoring five goals and providing three assists in 35 Serie A appearances. Udogie’s impressive work saw him attract the attention of a number of Italian clubs, with Juventus in particularly rumoured to be considering a move.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Udogie first discussed his desire to feature for the Italian national team.

“Playing for the national team is my goal. The coach told me he wanted to see me playing well. I want to convince him to call me up”

The Italian teenager touched on the interest of Juventus and how that felt.

“I could see it all on social media. But I was calm, I was thinking about recovering.”

He touched on possible move abroad in the future and his desire to continue receiving consistent minutes.

“First of all, I’m fine in Udine. And then I’ll tell you one thing, I want to play and improve. Maybe in the future I’d gladly do an experience in England.

“Because of football I didn’t get my diploma. I have one year left and mom wants me to get that.”

Finally, Udogie spoke about Udinese’s ambitions ahead of the upcoming campaign.

“Yes, we need to stay very focused in the final games of the season. And have more luck. In the two matches with Lazio we didn’t have any at all.”

Contracted to Udinese until 2026, Udogie will continue to look for regular first team football as he continues his development. Looking at Roberto Mancini’s Italy squad, the 19-year-old could easily fight to become the starting left back over the coming months and years.

  1. Be a risk getting him this early – as juve destroy youth – especially with allegri – let him develop for next 2-3yrs – Not like udinese will ask for 30+M euro’s for him = thr in really poor financial situation

We should have signed tyrell malacia – only cost man utd 18m euros = older and better in every department.

All the best to UDOGIE – can easily be the best left back – just concentrate on developing yourself

  2. Let him grow at Udinese.

Yes, please Signore Mancini, call him up to the Nazionale. He has played well for the U21 as he helped create scoring chances and converted some himself.

Perhaps he could play as a wing back complimentary to Spinazzola. I would not be surprised if Mancini decided, in fact, to convert him to an attacker or striker, as well.
