Udinese and Watford patron Gianpaolo Pozzo has written to the Italian Minister for Sport asking for ‘ad hoc legislation to take some of the responsibility’ off clubs and medics.

The medical protocol was agreed with the Lega Serie A and Government today, so group training can start on Monday, with a plan to begin games from June 13.

However, some issues remain with the protocol, as the club medic would be considered liable if any player tested positive for COVID-19.

However, some issues remain with the protocol, as the club medic would be considered liable if any player tested positive for COVID-19.

There would also be the problem that if any player does contract coronavirus, the entire squad must go into quarantine for 15 days, effectively ending their season.

“The Government should evaluate the adoption of ad hoc legislation that can take some of the responsibility off the directors of clubs, otherwise we’d be unfairly forced to carry that burden,” wrote Pozzo.

News agency ANSA notes he sent the letter to Minister for Sport Vincenzo Spadafora, CONI President Giovanni Malagò, FIGC President Gabriele Gravina and Lega Serie A President Paolo Dal Pino.
