In another blow to the new reduced self-isolation rules, Udinese announce one of the players who featured against Atalanta yesterday has tested positive for COVID-19.

The Serie A match had originally been in doubt because the local health authority (ASL) imposed a quarantine order on the entire matchday squad.

The Lega Serie A won its appeal to end the quarantine and insisted they had to play as long as there were 13 available players, including at least one goalkeeper.

Udinese were beaten 6-2 at home and there was insult to injury today with news a member of staff and a player have both tested positive for COVID-19.

This is the second time that a player has tested positive just hours after he was meant to be self-isolating under the previous rules.

Piotr Zielinski of Napoli was meant to be in quarantine because his vaccination was over 120 days ago.

He played against Juventus in Turin and tested positive for COVID-19 the day after.
