Udinese have confirmed that they tried to sign the Roma duo of Bojan Krkic and Miralem Pjanic during the summer.

The pair moved to the Italian capital in August, but only after the Bianconeri tried and failed to net their signature.

“We held talks for Bojan, but he ended up going to Roma,” stated boss Francesco Guidolin. “It’s the same scenario with regard to Pjanic.”

The Spanish striker, 21, joined the Giallorossi in what is effectively a two-year loan deal from European champions Barcelona.

Udinese wanted him as part of the agreement that saw Alexis Sanchez move from the Stadio Friuli to Barca.

Pjanic, meanwhile, joined the Stadio Olimpico outfit on transfer deadline day in an €11m deal from Lyon.

Udinese will host Roma in Serie A later this evening.
