Udinese have released a statement denying that an American fund would be taking over the club in July.

Tuttosport released a report today suggesting that a group of American investors, including groups like 890 Fifth Avenue Partners Llc and Group Nine Acquisition Corp, would be taking over Udinese, replacing the Pozzo family after 37 years of ownership. The Italian owners also own Championship outfit Watford.

Udinese’s statement today categorically denied Tuttosport’s report and claimed that the suggestion that an American fund would be taking over in July as “totally without foundation.”

The Pozzo family sold off shares in both Udinese and Watford back in October 2022. The Friulian club is valued at around $200m USD and were purchased by Giampaolo Pozzo in 1986.

Udinese currently sit 8th in the Serie A table after 18 games, picking up 25 points from six wins and seven draws. The team started the season in electric fashion and sat 3rd in the table after eight games, but they were unable to maintain momentum and haven’t picked up a win since early October.
