There are reports that Newcastle United’s Davide Santon is upset at being left out of Italy’s Under-21 match against Holland.

The Azzurrini will play the Dutch in Leeuwarden on Wednesday afternoon in Coach Devis Mangia’s debut.

As Cesare Prandelli took several Under-21 players for the senior friendly with England, there are many new faces in the younger side too.

However, Santon – who was captain under Ciro Ferrara – has been left at home for this match and is reportedly furious.

Mangia may well have simply decided to rest the former Inter full-back, but the message does not seem to have reached him.

The idea was to try Milan’s Mattia De Sciglio at right-back, but the teen was called up by Prandelli instead.
