Napoli striker Manolo Gabbiadini has a sprained ankle, but could reportedly return in around two weeks.

The forward went off injured during Italy’s friendly draw with Romania last night, and returned to his club for tests.

An official statement from the Partenopei confirmed a "sprain with blunt trauma of the cancellous bone of the right ankle" but medics were unable to estimate a recovery time.

The former Sampdoria man will spend a week on the sidelines before undergoing further tests.

Radio Crc reports that an MRI scan has ruled out a serious ankle injury, with Gabbiadini instead expected to be out for two or three weeks.

"Guys, I sprained my ankle," wrote Gabbiadini on Twitter. "It's nothing serious, a week of rest and treatment, then we'll see. Thanks for all your messages!"

Dries Mertens, meanwhile, has suffered a "post-traumatic edema" in his lower left thigh, and will follow a specific recovery plan for the next week.
