Luciano Spalletti and José Mourinho have been linked with the Chelsea job after Graham Potter’s sacking, but the leading candidate for the role appears to be Julian Nagelsmann.

The Blues sacked their coach on Sunday night after less than seven months in charge. Bruno Saltor has been appointed as an interim coach at Stamford Bridge, but the Premier League side will be looking for a new manager for 2023-24.

According to The Telegraph, Napoli boss Luciano Spalletti is among the profiles monitored by the Blues for next season.

The contract of the 64-year-old expires at the end of the season, but Napoli have an option to extend his stay at the club until 2024. President Aurelio De Laurentiis will likely sit down with the Tuscan tactician in the coming weeks, trying to negotiate a new deal with the man who is leading Napoli to their third Scudetto in history.

The other Serie A candidate for Chelsea’s job is Roma‘s José Mourinho, who is under contract at the Stadio Olimpico until 2024.

However, the Special One said on Sunday that ‘contracts are not so important sometimes’ suggesting that he may not continue with Roma beyond the summer.

The Independent wrote that ‘With such a huge turnover of senior personnel and a sense of self that has grown disparate, there might be some logic to bringing back the man who has managed Chelsea in more games than any other this century.’
