Mistakes proved costly again when Udinese lost 4-0 to 10-man Roma on Wednesday, and Igor Tudor fears “their minds were still in Bergamo.”

Only three days after the heavy 7-1 loss to Atalanta, the Friuli side suffered another hit, as they went down 4-0 to Roma at the Dacia Arena yesterday.

Incredibly, the Giallorossi were down to 10 men for an hour and scored three goals after the red card for Federico Fazio.

“It was a bad blow,” said Tudor after another heavy defeat. “I thought it would be better to play again straight away, after only three days, but it wasn’t like that.

“It seems like the lads still suffered the effects from the match on Sunday.”

Now he needs to collect his wounded troops and prepare to lift the spirits in Udine before a crucial weekend at Genoa. The late results have pulled Udinese back into the mix and they are only three points away from the relegation zone.

“I still need to point out that the players went out there to perform and gave it their all. Some individual errors, which we normally don’t do, helped Roma to exploit all their quality. Obviously, the game was connected to the one in Bergamo and I fear the lads weren’t at their best psychologically,” added the 41-year-old.

“When you don’t win, it’s always the fault of the coach, but I feel we played two matches against two very strong teams. I already spoke about the last match, and today we all seem to be very low. There aren’t many words in the dressing room, which is a symbol of how bad they feel.

“Now we have to get up and get through this negative period. I can also say that it’s my fault, because it’s always the coach’s fault. When we get there, we will analyse, but on Sunday we’ve got another battle and we need to turn up.”
