Kieran Trippier steps into the England starting XI against Italy for the UEFA EURO 2020 Final and hopes the 3-4-3 formation will do the trick. ‘It worked against Germany.’

It kicks off at 20.00 UK time, click here for the line-ups and LIVEBLOG.

“Unbelievable occasion, you can see the support from the fans coming into the stadium, they deserve it most importantly,” Trippier told ITV Sport.

“We wanted to play attractive football, good football throughout the tournament, we’re in the Final, one step closer and as soon as the whistle goes, we want to give everything.”

England have transformed their 4-3-3 formation for a 3-4-3 going into the Final against Italy, although it is realistically more of a 5-3-2.

This is the second time in the competition that Gareth Southgate has taken this approach, because he also used it in the Round of 16 against Germany, resulting in a 2-0 victory.

“It worked against Germany. I just want to give the balance and try to create as much as we can. No matter what formation we play, if it’s a four or a three, the players will do a very good job,” continued Trippier.

“Like I said, it’s about the 26 players, not the 11 that are starting and the subs will be very important today.”
