Giovanni Trapattoni and Ciro Ferrara have emerged as candidates for the Lazio job should Stefano Pioli be sacked.

The Biancocelesti Coach is under immense pressure having failed to win a Serie A match since October.

Il Messaggero reports today that Pioli will be sacked if his side fail to beat Udinese and progress to the Coppa Italia quarter-finals on Thursday.

Should that happen, the newspaper believes that 76-year-old former Ireland manager Trapattoni is in the running to succeed him.

Former Juventus and Sampdoria Coach Ferrara has also been linked with the position after Aquile sporting director Igli Tare reportedly rejected the idea of former player Bruno Giordano taking over.
