According to Calciomercato.com, the club legend has been in several meetings with CEO Guido Fienga and will meet with Friedkin when he arrives in Italy next week.

The new board of directors will be confirmed in October, but the report suggests there could be an announcement earlier than that, on September 27.

That’s because it is Totti’s birthday and will be a perfect moment to show the new owners are looking back to the Giallorossi past.

Totti had been appointed as an assistant to director of sport Monchi, but became frustrated at the lack of power he was given and walked away.

The former captain has now set up his own talent agency, so it remains to be seen how he’d be able to keep both those situations parallel.

It’s suggested there are three options for Totti to take on a role within the Roma administration.

He is not interested in the idea of brand ambassador, nor working alongside Bruno Conti in the youth academy.

The more likely position would be technical director working with a director of sport, who is yet to be appointed, with a future role as vice-president.
