Today the club backed Di Francesco despite recent poor results, but it’s not clear how much longer they’ll continue to support him.

It’s widely believed President Jim Pallotta wants to bring in Conte, rather than options such as Paulo Sousa and Vincenzo Montella.

According to Calciomercato.com, the key to getting the former Chelsea and Italy tactician is Totti.

It’s claimed director Totti has been in telephone conversations with Conte, although the plan would be to prepare the groundwork for next season rather than make an immediate change.

Roma captain De Rossi is also apparently using his downtime during an injury to communicate with his old Italy CT.
