Francesco Totti says he would be open to a call from Cesare Prandelli for the World Cup, if fitness allows him to go.

The Roma veteran is enjoying another productive season for the Giallorossi in front of goal, leading to the suggestion that he may be the surprise inclusion in Italy’s 23 that head out to Brazil this summer.

“If Prandelli were to call me then I would be proud,” Totti has admitted to Sky Sport Italia this week.

“I’d be happy, because the World Cup at Brazil would not come around again for me.

“But, I’ve always said that I will have to see how I am physically, if I would be alright or not. That’s the main thing.

“I hope that the national team can get to the final. They have the ability to do well, then Italy have increasingly come close to the semi-finals, so we hope it bodes well.

“To the World Cup I would call Destro and Florenzi – they are two players that are good for the group, that make the difference when playing.

“So, I think that they are players that absolutely should be called up. But, it is not for me to decide…”

The 37-year-old also considered Roma’s current League position and the fight with Napoli for the second automatic Champions League qualification place.

“We are trying in every way to get into the Champions League through the front door. We have a small advantage over Napoli, we still have a game in hand.

“And I think that, in the proper way, we will achieve this goal. Also because the facts say that we are stronger than Napoli.”
