Tottenham are reportedly interested in Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini and are close to signing Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu.

New Tottenham managing director Fabio Paratici is a long-time admirer of the Roma captain who he tried to bring to Juventus several times in the past.

Now, according to The Athletic, Paratici is interested in bringing Lorenzo Pellegrini to Tottenham.

The contract of the Roma midfielder expires in June 2022, and the Giallorossi are looking to extending his stay at the club, removing his €30m release clause.

The Giallorossi do not want to sell their captain and will soon begin talks to extend his contract. However, if Tottenham match the player’s release clause, they won’t be able to keep Pellegrini at the Stadio Olimpico unless he snubs a move to North London.

The 25-year-old had been included in Italy’s EURO 2020 squad by Roberto Mancini, but he was withdrawn from the team days before the beginning of the tournament due to a muscle injury.

Tottenham remain interested in Bologna defender Takehiro Tomiyasu and according to the same report, Spurs are close to finalising the deal with the Rossoblu for circa €18m plus add-ons.
