However, La Joya has already blocked an exchange with Manchester United striker Romelu Lukaku because he does not want to join the Old Trafford club.

He might think differently about Tottenham, because their manager Mauricio Pochettino is from Argentina and was already reported over the weekend to have called Dybala personally.

Spurs are also in the Champions League and indeed reached the Final last season.

Paris Saint-Germain also remain interested in Dybala, but will likely wait until after the Premier League transfer window has closed on Thursday afternoon.

Dybala's wage demands from Manchester United were €12m plus bonuses per season, plus a €15m commission for his agent.

However, some of that may well have been his attempts to block the transfer.
