Chelsea have confirmed that Fernando Torres will join Milan on a two-year loan deal.

Speculation had been mounting in recent days that the Spain international would leave for the San Siro before the transfer window shuts on Monday.

Talks were thought to have gone well, with the striker willing to take a pay-cut to join Pippo Inzaghi’s men.

A hiccough was thought to have occurred earlier today when the Premier League outfit refused to pay a severance fee to the goalscorer.

However, a compromise has been reached, with Jose Mourinho’s side revealing that they have come to an agreement with Milan for a two-year loan for Torres.

“Chelsea Football Club and Milan have agreed terms for the two-year loan deal of Fernando Torres to the Italian club,” a statement read on their official website.

“The move is now subject to Fernando agreeing personal terms with AC Milan and passing a medical examination.”

The 30-year-old will fly to Milan tomorrow morning to see the Rossoneri’s medical team, before signing on the dotted line.
