Roma are still unsure whether defender Vasilis Torosidis will be fit to face Bayern Munich tonight.

The Greek defender trained with the team yesterday as he recovers from a thigh injury, but is still not certain to be ready to face the German champions, as Roma seek revenge for the 7-1 mauling inflicted on them two weeks ago.

Speculation yesterday suggested that, with Douglas Maicon absent from the squad with his continued knee issue, Alessandro Florenzi could be forced to fill-in the right-back role should Torosidis not be fit.

Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport suggests that having learned the lessons from their humiliation in the Olimpico two weeks ago, the Giallorossi will employ a 4-4-2 system, with a diamond in midfield to try and limit the Bavarians.

Tuttosport concurs with this assessment, with both sports dailies expecting Francesco Totti to start on the bench, with Mattia Destro and Gervinho leading the line.

Miralem Pjanic would likely take up the trequartista role at the tip of the diamond, with Seydou Keita, Daniele De Rossi and Radja Nainggolan providing steel in midfield.

Despite his struggles two weeks ago, Ashley Cole is expected to be given another chance to face Arjen Robben, whilst Kostas Manolas and Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa will attempt to keep Bayern away from Morgan De Sanctis’ goal.

Probable Roma XI to face Bayern Munich: De Sanctis; Florenzi, Manolas, Yanga-Mbiwa, Cole; Keita, De Rossi, Nainggolan; Pjanic; Gervinho, Destro
