Torino are currently considering Genoa’s Alberto Gilardino as a potential successor for current coach Ivan Juric according to reports on Tuesday evening.

Back in February, Juric announced that he would leave Torino if he and the team failed to qualify for Europe by the end of the 2023-24 season. With his side currently in 9th place in the Serie A standings with seven matches to go, a departure at the end of the campaign is becoming an increasing inevitability.

After 31 matches of the 2023-24 season, Torino sit just six points ahead of newly-promoted Genoa, and according to reports from Football Italia transfer expert Matteo Moretto, Gilardino’s efforts are starting to be recognised by some of the ‘bigger’ sides in the league.

Moretto reports that Genoa are in conversation with Gilardino’s representatives and that the parties have discussed the best solution for the future for both sides.

Gilardino, who has a contract with Genoa until the end of next season, is not necessarily guaranteed to stay on at the Luigi Ferraris Stadium beyond the summer.

In the event that Juric does not renew his contract with Torino, Gilardino is currently considered as one of the more enticing options by the decision makers in Turin.
