Ivan Juric surprised many by openly revealing his plans for his future with Torino as they fight for a spot in Europe.

The Granata were held to a 0-0 draw by relegation candidates Salernitana in their league outing on the weekend, a result that leaves them at the back of the pack in the race for the European spots. Despite sitting 10th in the table, they only sit four points behind fifth place Bologna.

Juric has been in charge of Torino since July 2021, guiding them to two 10th place finishes in the league. The Croatian coach has made it clear that he wants the team to go up a level and compete in the European competitions, something that’s alluded them since the 2014-15 season.

Speaking in a press conference via TMW, Juric was asked about his ongoing contract renewal talks with Torino.

“If I don’t go to Europe, what am I doing here? Do I get more money? If I go to Europe, I’ll talk to myself, and we’ll think about it.

“Otherwise, it means that being left apart is a great result because we have great teams ahead of us, but what am I doing here without Europe?

“I’ll take the money and then maybe they’ll send me home…But that’s not what I want. We shouldn’t get by.

“My thought is this, with the managers and the president we are fine, the Filadelfia is beautiful, we’ve put everything in.

“We’ve done an extraordinary job. If we go to Europe, I’ll stay at Toro. Otherwise, I’ll leave.”

This is currently the longest Juric has stayed at one club in his coaching career, with the next longest being a two-year spell at Hellas Verona.
