Toni turns 37 next month and has set a new club record with his 16 goals in a single Serie A season for Verona.

“Do I really hope for a World Cup call? Absolutely I do!” he told Chi magazine.

“In fact, I am putting myself forward as a candidate for a shirt in Brazil. If someone without a goal this season can hope, then of course I will after netting 16 without penalties.”
