The World Cup winner was interviewed by Gazzetta dello Sport in the build-up to tonight’s Champions League clash between Juventus and Bayern Munich, as he has represented both sides.

“It was a unique experience in Germany, a comparison with football that was very far ahead of ours then,” Toni explained.

“But at Juventus it was a positive adventure, an important stage of my career because there I scored my 100th goal in Serie A.

“The Coach then, Antonio Conte, made some choices that I accepted quietly and then I left.

“My strongest teammates? Pirlo and Ribery. Frank is world class, but also a great guy who made me die with laughter. We still talk.

“Andrea needs to be cloned: in training he always made me score goals.

“Special moments? With Bayern the final of the German Cup against Borussia Dortmund in April 2008: we won thanks to my double in extra time in the stadium where I won the World Cup.

“With the Bianconeri, scoring the first ever goal at Juventus Stadium.”
