The sale of Sandro Tonali to Newcastle United has allowed Milan to enact a clear strategy in the summer transfer window, where they’ve already signed six players.

The Rossoneri sold the 23-year-old Italian midfielder to the Magpies in a deal worth up to €80m total at the start of this month, a move that didn’t go down well with supporters in the Lombardy capital.

In the days after the sale of Tonali, things seemed a little dire for Milan, especially after the sackings of Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara. Three weeks later, it’s a different story.

Pages two and three of today’s Gazzetta dello Sport detail how Milan have wasted no time enacting their summer strategy after selling Tonali, picking up six players already – Marco Sportiello, Luka Romero, Christian Pulisic, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders and Noah Okafor.

Samuel Chukwueze is expected to arrive from Villarreal next week, bringing the club’s total signings so far to seven this summer.

The aim has been to pick up young but not inexperienced players, allowing them to compete at the top of Serie A whilst also angling to sell in a few years for a profit, increasing the sustainability at the club.

  1. The base of the team is mostly still there. Only Tonali and Diaz left. So this is really more about reinforcing and not a total change. The right side of the team often lacked creativity. That’s where Chukwueze and Pulisic come into play

  2. Well done🤞for a better squad of players ;as proved in the past that can be a success; ie….see Leao- Teo- Tonali

  3. Giancarlo, but the misfiled is essentially completely different. The only concern is that Pioli has enough time to bring out the best combo before season start and that the new players combine well together.
