Damiano Tommasi says he will see where Francesco Totti’s ‘assist’ takes him after being backed for the FIGC’s presidency by his former Roma teammate.

Totti felt Tommasi was the right man to “take over” everything after the institutional crisis that followed Italy’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, and the ex-Roma midfielder was grateful for the support.

Totti felt Tommasi was the right man to “take over” everything after the institutional crisis that followed Italy’s failure to qualify for the World Cup, and the ex-Roma midfielder was grateful for the support.

“Totti’s endorsement? Francesco makes assists. After that, you have to see where they go…” he told ANSA.

“Can I become President? This isn’t the issue right now. As per the federal statute, there must be a member that proposes a name. No-one becomes a candidate automatically.”
