Brazil coach Tite discussed the Seleçao’s preparations for the World Cup at Juventus’ training ground and his thoughts on Italy’s absence from the tournament.

Roberto Mancini’s Azzurri failed to qualify for the upcoming World Cup after suffering a disastrous 1-0 loss to North Macedonia in their qualification play-off game earlier this year. It’s the second consecutive World Cup missed by Italy, opening a painful wound for fans of the national team.

Speaking to the Italian press, Tite first discussed Brazil’s decision to prepare for the World Cup at Juventus’ training centre in Continassa.

“We have a guideline in the preparation of the Brazilian team, we always strive for excellence. And here it is a question of preparing for a World Cup in a top-class place.

“The Juventus training centre offers this, in addition to the logistical facilities.”

He then commented on Italy’s failure to qualify for the tournament in Qatar.

“Nobody would have said that after winning the European Championship. I’m sorry but it’s more proof of how strange football is.”

Mancini did not resign after Italy’s failure to qualify and is now overseeing the transition to a fresh Azzurri squad. The team’s next major tournament will likely be Euro 2024 in Germany.

Italy will play two friendlies during the World Cup break, against Albania on November 16 and Austria on November 20.
