Tiago Mendes has wasted little time in signing for Atletico Madrid after his Juventus contract was scrapped yesterday.

The Portuguese international had a year left on his agreement in Turin before it was decided by mutual consent to rescind terms.

Tiago, who has been on loan at Atletico since January 2010, has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Spanish club.

The former Chelsea man was signed in the summer of 2007 from Lyon for around €13m by the then newly promoted Bianconeri.

The central midfielder played just 42 League games for Juventus, 53 in total, during which he failed to score a single goal.
