The mayor of Cagliari has added to the uncertainty surrounding the club by claiming there are still three groups who could buy the club.
It had previously been thought that current owner, Massimo Cellino, had made a decision as to whom he would sell to and that there were only two prospective buyers in the running.
“There are three groups,” Massimo Zedda is quoted as saying on CalcioNews24. “One Italian, one American and one other foreign one.
“Who are they? I don’t know because they have asked for privacy.

“The American group have asked for clarification on issues regarding the stadium.
“They knew that they would be able to build shops and hotels, but they didn’t know exactly what the limits were.”
