The new Nerazzurri President has been on the receiving end of some skepticism as his team is still floundering in the standings this season, but the Coach has given his full backing.

“The President is driven and positive,” Mancini has told La Repubblica. “He knows that building a team takes time and that difficult moments are part of it.

“He is not like us Italians, who only think about winning the Scudetto tomorrow. But our objective must be that of beginning something geared towards winning the Scudetto, everybody must get this into their heads.

“I've spoken with Thohir and I'm confident – he will build a team to win in time.”

The 50-year-old was also asked what was needed to bring his team back to its old heights.

“Inter's future team is currently short of players who can grasp situations right away – people who talk, lead and can boast extraordinary technique.

“It's no mystery that I like fast wingers who create numerical superiority, along the lines of David Silva. There are a few players like him in the world.

“Inter have to grow, that's true. I've seen many improvements and only against Empoli did I really dislike the way the team played.

“We've left points by the side of the road for reasons that were absurd, for details and immaturity. Now we may be getting close, it's true. But there will be other errors, that's a certainty.”
