However, in an interview on Friday, the Indonesian businessman said he remains on good terms with the 51-year-old and highlighted the need for everyone at Inter to work as a team.

“Football is never easy to predict, there are a lot of things to talk about and to share,” began Thohir.

“We need to work together and share points of view in order to do something good.

“The role of the Coach is very important. The relationship between the Coach and the club is good.

“We have had some disagreements, but it is a good relationship. It is important that everyone expresses their opinion, but then we all have to work together as a team.”

Thohir was also asked about the player he would most like to see in a Nerazzurri shirt.

“The most important thing for me is to sign players who can be important for the team. I have always liked Messi.

“But he is one of the best in the world, it would be a dream. The reality is that Inter cannot afford it at the moment because he wants to play in the Champions League and we can’t guarantee him that.”
