Mauro Icardi’s 92nd-minute header was the difference between Inter and Milan on Sunday, and Moratti firmly believed his former club were on ‘the right track’ towards being successful again.
“For a fan, it’s the best way to win,” he told Radio Anch’io Sport.
“Icardi is very good and always vigilant. It was a fantastic result. It reminded me a little bit of the Treble-winning Inter. I’d say we are on the right track.
“Returning to Inter? I’m a fan and I really like being one. Inter don’t need a person who belongs to the past in any way.
“Italian football needs a new figurehead. I believe and hope this happens. An 18-team League would be better with all the commitments there are, and it would be more interesting.
“It’s never a bad idea to get someone with great experience like Marotta. I think Icardi is a player Inter must keep.
“He’s showing himself to be a player who cares a lot about the club, shirt and fans. Inter always start the season with the idea that the Scudetto is possible.
“Yesterday’s win lets us understand that we have a team who can win matches. Juve are better, although they have the Champions League and many other commitments, which can make things difficult for them.”
