Genoa will be without striker Mattia Destro for at least a couple of weeks after he sustained a thigh injury.

The forward limped off clutching the back of his leg during the 0-0 draw with Venezia on Sunday.

A statement from the club now confirms the 30-year-old has been diagnosed with a low-grade lesion to the left femoral bicep.

He is expected to make his return after the break for international duty, so will definitely miss the relegation tussle with Empoli this weekend.

Destro has been on sparkling form this season, scoring six goals in just eight Serie A appearances.
