Spezia coach Thiago Motta has ‘good sensations’ ahead of the first game against Cagliari and is not worried about the heat in Sardinia. ‘We will play with confidence’.
The Aquilotti have appointed Thiago Motta as Vincenzo Italiano’s replacement, and the former Genoa coach expects a tough test against Leonardo Semplici’s men tomorrow night.
“It’s the first match, the championship starts,” Thiago Motta told the club’s official website. “There are good sensations, seeing what we have done this week.
“We will face a difficult match, like all of them, and we will do it with confidence to do well.
“Cagliari are a good team, last year they had a good end to the season and saved themselves in a good way.
“I expect a team that attacks and plays to win, as we will do.”
The heat in Cagliari has been a topic, with the match starting at 18.30 local time, but Thiago Motta said it won’t be an excuse for his team on Monday.
“I don’t see why. When it’s hot, it’s hot. When it’s cold, it’s cold. It’s the current situation,” he said. “Our players are physically well, and they have shown this during the week and in the Coppa Italia.
“This cannot be an excuse for a player who defends a team like Spezia.”
