Fiorentina new boy Cyril Thereau claims “I was close to joining Inter on several occasions” in the past.
Speaking at his official unveiling as a Fiorentina player after his arrival from Udinese on deadline day last month, Thereau also spoke of his regret at not moving to Italy earlier in his career, having been 27 when he signed for Chievo in 2010.
“Perhaps, through my own fault, I haven’t been able to express all my potential,” admitted the forward.

“Here in Italy, I’ve found real football. It wasn’t the case in other countries like Belgium and Romania.
“I wasn’t in a position to maximise my potential before. Had I come here earlier, things would’ve been different, also because I was close to joining Inter on several occasions.
“But ultimately, fate is beautiful because I’ve joined a very important club and I’m happy.”
