Four Serie A clubs are younger than Queen Elizabeth II, who is celebrating her 96th birthday today.

The Queen was born on April 21 1926 and she’s witnessed an indescribable amount of historic moments over the years, such as the moon landing or the birth of the computer age. Another thing that may have passed her by is the creation of four Serie A regulars, all of which were founded after her birth.

The four clubs are Napoli (01/08/1926), Fiorentina (29/08/1926), Roma (07/07/1926) and Sampdoria (12/08/1946). These four teams are now synonymous with the Italian top flight and all have won at least one Scudetto in their history.

Other familiar faces that Queen Elizabeth was born before include Lyon (03/08/1950), Red Star Belgrade (04/03/1945) and Paris Saint-Germain (12/08/1970).

Queen Elizabeth is the fourth longest-reigning monarch in history, having been Queen of the United Kingdom for 70 years and 74 days.

  1. 07/06/1927 and not 07/07/1926! Football Italia is be far the poorest football website out there when it comes to professionalism and journalism.
