Carlos Tevez says it ‘pains him’ not to be at the World Cup, as he reflects on his dream to end his career at Boca Juniors.

The Juventus man has not been involved with the Argentine national team for a couple of years and is not a part of the 23-man squad due to kick off their World Cup campaign in Brazil on June 15.

“I have been calm and in a good mood from the moment I was told that I would not go to the World Cup,” Tevez has told reporters this week on the matter.

“I am not going to Brazil, I will have my holidays with my family, I will be in Spain.

“I am not watching anything. Our task remains to push for the national team to be successful in Brazil.

“I do not know how the team are, I do not watch them. It gives me pain not to be there. I had no problems with Bilardo, Grondona and Messi.

“I do not allow problems to exist, this is a decision of the Coach Sabella, the end.”

Tevez was talking at an event organised by Boca Juniors, the club where the 30-year-old began his senior career and where he admits he would like to end it.

“Certainly my dream is to end my career at Boca, I could not play for any other club in Argentina.

“However, I have another two years on my contract with Juventus. It is my passion, I do not know when I will return.

“For this I have rejoiced and have suffered, my daughters urge me to return to wearing the shirt, they pressure me!

“Certainly Boca are the club I love most in the world as a fan.”
