“Inter are a big club who won many titles. There’s a lot of history and many of the greatest players were here,” he told Inter Channel.

“I already knew Mancini and Felipe Melo, so there is a great deal of respect for them. I am happy to be at Inter. The city of Milan is also fantastic and I hope to stay here for a long time. Felipe Melo is my roommate when we’re in training and I consider him to be a big brother.

“Serie A is a difficult League with many strong teams. In Brazil I was accustomed to attacking all the time from full-back, but Mancini changed the way I think about my role. I am now more active as a defender and pay a lot more attention to what others are doing.

“Thanks to Mancini I have improved in my fitness levels and tactics. The player I aspire to be like is Marcelo, as he is a complete full-back who can attack and defend. He makes the difference, like Douglas Maicon.

“I know that I have to do more and there are many of us competing for playing time at Inter. Yuto Nagatomo has a lot of experience, as do Juan Jesus and Danilo D’Ambrosio.

“I spoke to Mauro Icardi and Stevan Jovetic a lot to discuss how they like crosses and they prefer it early. I am trying to perfect the art of the cross, but I know I can do better.

“I prefer to play in a four-man defence, but with Mancini I also played wide in a 3-5-2, so I can do that too. I have attacked down the left in a 4-2-3-1, but not on the right.

“Mancini is a great Coach and I can only thank him. I have to play for him and for the team. When I make a mistake, he talks to me and that is important.”
