New FIGC President Carlo Tavecchio confirmed “we are working” to appoint Antonio Conte as Italy Coach.

The name of the tactician is expected to be announced on Monday, when the Federation holds its next meeting in Rome.

“Any news on Conte? We are working on it,” Tavecchio told news agency ANSA.

The former Juventus boss has emerged as the absolute favourite to take over from Cesare Prandelli.

On Monday the FIGC will also decide on its Vice-Presidents, while it’s reported Fiona May will be appointed counsellor for integration and race relations.

May is an English-born ex-athletics champion who opted to compete for Italy after marrying an Italian.
