Milan assistant manager Mauro Tassotti reveals Riccardo Saponara starts “to give Kaka more freedom.”

Massimiliano Allegri’s right hand man spoke to Sky Sport Italia ahead of the clash with Inter. Click here for the line-ups.

The huge surprise was to include Saponara, who turned 22 yesterday and has made only two substitute appearances this season for a total 24 minutes of football.

“We have an emergency in attack and on the bench only Alessandro Matri can actually play. If we want to change during the game, we need fresh legs who are capable of making an impact.

“He would also give Kaka more freedom to move around, as he has played a lot recently and is suffering a little in physical terms.

“Having two trequartisti there will help him. He’ll be able to play between the lines and push up to be a support striker too.”

Tassotti was also asked about the rumours Clarence Seedorf has agreed to take over at Milan next season.

“We have an important game tonight, so I think discussing the future is out of place. Rumours have been circulating since the summer, so I doubt they will affect us now.”
